Livorno Day 2
The weather forecast was correct, it did change with a vengeance! We woke up to grey skies and drizzle. Our plan was for a fairly lazy morning, with coffee in the cabin then breakfast in the dining room. Ian opted to do his laundry while Karen, Aaron and I walked over to the City Museum of Livorno. It's located in an old olive oil warehouse. This was very interesting as it told the history of the city, and had archeological finds, old maps and charts, and paintings. Livorno has been an important port for a long time, and also a very international port, trading with French, English, Dutch, Germans over the centuries. It was also a more tolerant city for most of it's history, welcoming foreigners and many religions.
It's quite a blustery walk, and we have to hold tight to our umbrellas! Back to the ship for a light late lunch. It's a perfect afternoon to sit in the "Living Room" the forward lounge on deck 10 and read. We've been pretty busy so far this trip, so having a down day is welcome.
Pre-dinner cocktails, dinner and a show. And so to bed!
